歐盟防爆新更新EN 60079-0 2018標準解讀

EN 60079-0 2018
《爆炸性環境設備通用要求標準》版EN 60079-0剛剛出版。在此之前,該標準的IEC版本IEC 60079-0:2017于2017年年底發布。
The latest edition of the standard for general requirements of equipment for use in explosive atmospheres, EN 60079-0,has just been published. This follows the publication of the IEC version of this standard, IEC 60079-0:2017, at the end of 2017.

EN 60079 -0:2018取代了EN 60079-0:2012,EN 60079-0:2012將于2021年7月6日撤銷。
There are a number of significant changes made to the standard that will need consideration. Note that these changes are the same for both the EN and IEC version of the standard :

• For equipment for use in explosive dust atmospheres with specified dust layers, the certification may require updating if the equipment can be mounted in multiple orientations and the certification does not currently state these limitations. Additional marking requirements are also included;

• Adhesives used to secure gaskets are now required to comply with the requirements for cements and required to be used within their continuous operating temperature (COT). Additional assessment may be required;
non-compliant adhesives will need to be replaced and testing to verify compliance may be necessary;

• Lasers, luminaires and other non-divergent continuous wave optical sources are to comply with IEC 60079-28. The previous requirements in clause 6.6.2 are removed and replaced by IEC 60079-28;

• For non-metallic materials that rely on a breakdown voltage of less than
4 kV DC, the testing conducted will need reviewing to ensure that it complies with the applicable requirements of IEC 60243-1 and IEC 60243-2;

• For equipment constructed of copper or copper alloys for use in atmospheres
containing acetylene, there are new requirements that limit the copper content. Coating is permitted as an alternative solution. Note that cable glands, blanking elements, thread adapter and bushings are not included in this new requirement;

• Plugs, socket outlets and connectors for field wiring connections for EPL Gc and Dc have additional requirements. To prevent any misinterpretation of the combined requirements of IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-15 the additional requirements in clause 20.1 c) have been added;

• The list of accepted primary and secondary cell types has been updated and extended. This may affect compliance of existing certification that incorporates cells or batteries but also extends the options on permitted cell types;

• If existing certification permits the alternative marking of equipment protection levels (EPLs) as per IEC 60079-0:2011 clause 29.13, this has now been removed so markings will be required to be updated. This is to ensure that all marking will include the EPL at the end of the marking string;

•The requirements for instructions has been clarified. It is possible that this clarification results in a need to update existing instructions in line with the latest requirements. This is especially true for electric machinesand cable glands, where new requirements have been added;

•Cable gland testing has been amended which may result in the need for retesting in order to comply with the latest requirements.

The changes include:

Mandrels required to be stainless steel. The option of steel mandrels has been removed;
Cable pull testing is required prior to thermal endurance. The test duration for this preconditioning test, when compared to the existing post conditioning test, is reduced from 6 hours to 1 hour and the permitted slippage is reduced from 6 mm to 2 mm;
A clearer definition of the impact test rig requirements has been provided;
For cable glands that provide clamping by filling compound, the test requirements have been amended such that the clamping test sample representing the smallest diameter cable is replaced by a sample with the maximum number of mandrels representing the maximum number of cores (note that this change is not recorded in the changes table of the standard but the potential impact of the change is significant to existing certificates)
Clarification on the order of tests. Previously it was not clear whether thermal endurance testing was required prior to the degree of protection testing as defined in A.3.4;
The introduction of an informative annex that clarifies the testing process for cable glands.

There are a number of changes that are unlikely to affect ongoing compliance of a certified product but may alter the compliance parameters:

•Small surface areas that exceed the temperature class by 25K (T4 to T6

• There is a relaxation on the amount of information required to identify plastic and elastomeric materials;

• An extension has been made to the possible methods of avoidance of electrostatic charge build-up to include:
Specific conditions of use for portable, mains powered, equipment;
Maximum transferred charge.

• The tolerance class requirements of hexagon socket set screws has been removed as it was deemed not critical;

• The requirements on the dimensions of termination compartments has been removed. However, the relevant industrial standards referenced in clause 6.1 may include this requirement in most cases;

• Non-threaded cable glands and blanking elements for use in Group I may
now be certified as Ex Equipment;

• The scope of application of the supplementary requirements for electric machines in clause 17 of the standard has been defined;

• Maintenance switches are now considered within the disconnectors requirements in the switch gear clause. Maintenance switches contravened the
previous requirements, the amendment identifies and acknowledges the function of a maintenance switch;

• Additional guidance notes have been added to the requirements on bearings in electric machines;

• Where equipment includes cells or batteries, the contradiction with the type of protection standards that permit parallel interconnection of cells has been removed, therefore permitting such connections when the type of protection does;

• The order of tests on non-metallic enclosures or parts of enclosures has been amended. It is now permitted to conduct the post thermal endurance tests at the lower test temperature prior to the upper test temperature. Previously, the upper test temperature was to be conducted prior to the lower test temperature;

• The maximum surface temperature test previously required an input voltage between 90% and 110% of the rated voltage. This has been revised to be 90% or 110% of the rated voltage;

• Greater clarity in the way in which the resistance to light testing is conducted has been added. The preparation of test samples may be different to that previously specified so long as the alternative test can be justified as equivalent. Details for the testing of elastomers for resistance to light has also been added;

• Where surface resistance testing of low resistance parts is required, the test has been extended to permit testing at lower voltages;

• The marking requirements are updated to reflect changes in the type of protection standards;

• Greater clarity has been introduced on the requirements for marking of associated equipment;

• Requirements for the marking of equipment that is intended to be installed in the boundary wall has been added;

• For cable glands, metallic hose assemblies are now permitted;

• For cable glands, testing with cable is permitted but,in doing so, the cable becomes part of the controlled design;

• For electric machines, the informative annex that describes the temperature evaluation of electric machines has been rewritten to give better guidance;

• For electric machines, a new informative annex has been added, giving guidance on how to calculate the energy of shaft voltages resulting in motor bearing or shaft brush sparking discharge.

A number of clarifications, considered to be minor and editorial changes that should not affect the ongoing compliance of existing certification,have been made relating to the following:

• How process temperatures are expressed;
• How service temperatures are determined for equipment for use in explosive dust atmospheres;
• How the service temperature range is to be detailed in the schedule of limitations for Ex Components;
• That the maximum specified dust layer shall not be greater than 200mm, and that dust layers greater than 200mm are not of concern as they do not result in higher temperature increases in the surface temperature;

• That the maximum ambient temperature previously stated in the second table of the small component clause is the temperature of the air surrounding the component and not the ambient temperature outside the equipment;

• Which RTI figures arerelevant to plastics specification requirements: clarified to be either mechanical strength or mechanical impact, whichever is greater;

• That gasket and seals which only have a small proportion potentially exposed to light do not need to meet the UV resistance requirements;

• That multiple methods of avoidance of electrostatic charge build-up may be employed on a piece of equipment;

• What the limits are for surface resistance of non-metallic materials in explosive dust atmospheres;

• That the breakdown voltage test of non-metallic materials in explosive dust atmospheres is a DC test;

• That a specific condition of use cannot be used for portable or personal equipment with attached external conductive parts with a resistance to earth exceeding 1 Gohm ;

• How degree of protection levels are to be interpreted;

• How the marking of equipment and Ex components for explosive dust atmospheres shall be with respect to dust layers;

•How electric machines operated with a converter are to be marked;

•How cable glands with multiple holes for sealing individual cores are to be tested;

• That a protective device with respect to motors supplied by converters (as defined in the previous edition) is a safety device to limit temperatures.

A number of requirements have also been relocated within the standard or relocated from other 60079 series standards. These requirements are unchanged so do not affect compliance.
